My Blogging Experience

Hello everyone, this will be the last blog I write this semester, and it will be about my experience regarding the blog. In general, blogging helped me a lot with language, mostly the spelling. Although my greatest weakness in English is listening and speaking in English, it's really hard for me to pronounce things correctly when I speak and to understand when someone speaks to me.

The topics we developed this semester were relatively easy and I did not have much difficulty doing it on the blog, but I would have liked to have a greater diversity of topics to write, that would have had more relation with dentistry, to be closer to the technical language that is used in the career and maybe that would have facilitated reading papers and presentations. Being more familiar with the language of dentistry makes everything easier to develop.

In addition, I would have liked other topics such as meals, trips and attractive places in the world, or places to travel in Chile. I would have preferred to address some issues in groups within the course to facilitate the activities and learn together, I believe in that way there's a better interaction and we can share our knowledge.

In general, I had a good experience, but as I said earlier the course should take into consideration the subjects of dentistry. Thank you very much for reading me, see you later!

I love pets

Hello everyone, today I want to talk about pets. I have a pet, I have a little dog that is called Small, she is a dachshund breed and is black with a coffee-like color, she is about 6 years old. She came to my house in 2011 and was very small, that's why she's called like that haha.

Small lives in Pumanque, my home town, I cannot have her here in Santiago in an apartment, I think she would have a lot of sadness, because she is a very active dog, she likes to run and compete with the dogs in the neighborhood. She likes to play ball, in fact, she has a mini basketball, which is the only one she has not been able to break.

My pet is crazy, I love that she plays with me, that sometimes she sits next to me when I am sad to show me her love or just stay with me. I think having a pet is very important, they teach us to be responsible of someone, to care about them and love them, my dog ​​is very important to me, and I miss her a lot. In future, I would also like to have a hedgehog, I find them very cute and as they are of small size I could have it in Santiago, I hope to have one soon.

A subject favourite !!

Hello !!! 😜 My favorite subject this semester is "Clinic of the Elderly"👴👵, it is very interesting and fun.

In classes, we've seen the importance that elders have in society and how this age group has increased through the years. Thus, national politics have changed accordingly. We must consider elders integral beings that have different needs, and it is also important to take into account that life expectancy has increased, so they have to be incorporated in society as active beings.

Within these topics is where dentistry takes relevance, because even if life expectancy increases, not so much life quality. In the subject of "Clinic of the Elderly" they teach us to help people improving their life quality, how we can make ourselves part of their life and how to colaborate with them in the best way possible.

Within the topics we've studied in class there's psychology of the elderly, physiological changes, nutrition, fragility in the elderly, poly-pharmacy and how this affects their multiple diseases.

I think this whole topic is a big challenge, that's why we should be empowered and make ourselves part of the change Chilean population has suffered, and dentistry has an important role in the life quality and health of people.

Alfredo Apip, a master of preventive dentistry

Alfredo Apip

Alfredo Apip, is a dentist from The University of Chile, that has 65 years of practicing the profession.  Of Turkish origin, this man has a romantic story with dentistry, because he studied dentistry thanks to falling in love with a girl that studied the same, he relates that he changed his career for her. 

Alfredo Apip is very important to dentistry because he strongly promotes preventive dentistry, as a dentist It cannot be all about restoring cavities and repairing damage, a true dentist has the capacity of teaching  children so they know what we must do to take care of our oral health, and this prevent diseases that can leave us even without teeth.

Its role in dental school has been very important, he has a CFG of poetry where he teaches students to express themselves, and to have more creativity.

A  typical phrase from teacher Apip is “Preventing is worth one, repair thousands”

Because of this, we the role, as future dentists, of teaching our patients to take care of their mouth and give them as many tools as possible. And not rely only on making money.

Hobbies !!

Hello, today I want to tell you my hobbies. Well I really like to play sports, but I'm very weak, when I practiced volleyball at my school, until I was 14, it was a good way to distract me if I had problems, and doing physical activity was good for me. Also, since I was little I like to do trekking, I live originally in the field, so there are many hills nearby where I can climb whenever I want, it is very entertaining, I love the air that feels up, it is a rewarding experience to reach the top of hours walking, besides that it relaxes me a lot, when I travel to my house I always try to do it despite the little time and that is once a month.

My hobby that I practice most is reading, and I do that since I learned to read, my parents bought me many books since I was little, I remember that I even read the things that my older brother studied. It is something that I will never leave, and I love, it is like stopping time, and going to another place that you do not know in your imagination. Reading makes us more educated, and we learn from other cultures that can be thousands of miles away. This should encourage children from an early age, should be a daily habit. Read your favorite book on a winter afternoon, plus a coffee, I think it's my favorite moment.  💗💗💗😏

This photograph was taken in Pumanque, sixth region, in February of this year. On a summer afternoon, a rainbow came out and then I observed this sunset, I found it very beautiful and strange at the same time. All this happened days after the great fire that affected my commune, then it seemed to me that it was like the sun after a great storm, since everything was very ugly and bad looking. I watched it it all the time while it lasted, I love sunsets, in fact I think I have more sunsets photos than other type of pictures. The colors that sunsets have, seem very attractive to me, the orange tones, and the mixture of the sky with pink sometimes is very beautiful.

I think taking pictures is something beautiful and you should always keep track of things like that, so you never forget. Although you should always enjoy the moment.

Cellphone: Loved and Hated !!!

My favorite piece of the technology is my cell phone, I think it's what I use most of the day, I can search everything I want on the internet and thus I avoid entering my notebook that has a slower speed.

I remember that my first cell phone) I had it at 11 years old, it was quite immature, and I only used it to play, at that time the internet was not used so much and I remember that I had the basic functions to call, send messages, and a pair of games like that of the snake. With the passing of the years I got a better one to use the internet, and thus I have been changing with the time of cellular in cellular.

I currently use an iphone, I think it is one of the best that are sold in the market, fast, easy to use, a good camera that is very important for me since I love taking pictures. I also use a lot of social networks especially Instagram and facebook and spotify to listen to music.

I like it to be practical and quick to use, but I think there is an overuse of technology, because even though I like to use it a lot, sometimes I leave aside many good things that you have in front of me and I do not see them for occupying time in my phone. I think I could live without a cell phone in my life, I think it's just an adaptation issue, because before you did not have these technologies and there was a much more real and quality communication.

Odontology's Love

When I was a child, I dreamed becoming in pediatrician, I like the children, but when I was about 8 years old started to get interested for the animals and at that moment I become in doctor of dogs 💓, a veterinary.

In the school I had a lot of doubts about my future in the university, I went to a lot fair universitary for  know about the careers, at the moment I think Odontology, medicine, or engineering,  but in the end of my years in the school I decide study Odontology because I want help to the people improving your dental health and so see them smile.  I not have others options, I just wanted dentistry.

I have say that I had a great experience in the university, but I still need 3 years yet, for finish my career. I like to learn  new things every day that I will put into practice with people in the clinic.

In the future I would like work with children, I would like to be a pediatric dentist, teach about how to care your mouth, how prevent the diseases and arrive with all healthy teeth when they are older adults. 💉💉 Could be in the clinic, hospital, but I not like have a clinic own because I prefer to share with people  from differents professions and to know others realities.

My autobiography !!

Hi, my name is Camila Martínez, I twenty one years old, and live in Pumanque, this is in the sixth region of Chile. I was born on October 31, 1995 in San Fernando.  I studied in Maria Auxiliadora high school, in Santa Cruz. Now, I study Odontology in the University of Chile, and for that reason I must live in Santiago temporarily.

In Santiago I live with mi brother and his Girlfriend. But In Pumanque live my mother, my father and I have a little dog that it´s called Pequeña, I love her. I see my parents only twice a month

I like listen to music (especially rock, indie,etc), also I like make trekking with my friends in the weekend, I love go outdoors, I relax. When I'm at home and the day is cold and cloudy I like watch movies and series in Netflix. I'm a fan of books, I love to read, I spend a lot of money on books
